We are SUPER excited to announce our September wine box collaborator, David Bancroft of Acre and Bow & Arrow! David and our “Wino in Charge,” John Mark Davis, have been friends for many years, both starting their hospitality careers at the infamous Amsterdam Café in Auburn. They also share a birthday week! David’s birthday is September 15th, and John Mark’s is September 18th.
This time last year is when we had our very first collaborator, and it’s only fitting that it was Christin Bancroft, David’s better half. To celebrate the boys birthdays and a fun year of collaborations, we are finally doing a box that “Just the Wino” has wanted to do for sometime…a boujee box!!! (boujee: High class, flossin’, ballin’. One who possesses swag.)
Introducing, the Boujee Birthday Bancroft Box! Say that five times fast!
All of these wines will be available by the glass at Acre in Auburn, Alabama. Tasting notes below for each wine along with a link to order.

3 Bottles of 2019 Louis Latour Montagny Premier Cru La Grande Roche

Maison Louis Latour was founded in Burgundy in 1797. It has been family owned and operated ever since. The appellation of Montagny is just south of Beaune in the Cote Chalonaise. This wine is 100% Chardonnay grown in a single vineyard, La Grande Roche. It is also consider Premier Cru. For short, that means it comes from a very high quality vineyard. This wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel vats and goes through complete malolactic fermentation. This wine is ample and round on the palate with exotic and white fruits aromas with a touch of vanilla. It is very fresh with a slightly salty finish. An outstanding example of White Burgundy!
3 Bottles of 2019 Coudoulet de Beaucastel

Owned by Famille Perrin, Chateau de Beaucastel is one of the most renowned and collected Chateauneuf-du-Pape producers in Rhone. The first evidence of Beaucastel dates all the way back to the 16th century. Coudoulet is often considered “a baby CDP” as it is simply across a road from the vineyards where Beaucastel sources it’s grapes for their CDP. The vineyards where the grapes for this wine are grown are not within the geographical region to be considered a CDP, hence the Cotes du Rhone classification. Make no mistake, this wine is PHENOMENAL!! It is a blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Mouvedre, 20% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault. It has an intensely aromatic nose of black cherry, crème de cassis and black raspberry liqueur framed by mocha notes and typical stoney minerality. The palate is explosively fruit driven featuring a deep core of pure succulent black fruit of great intensity but also elegance. Flavors of dark chocolate and coffee precede a lengthy finish that highlights vineyard-driven graphite and mineral power.
3 Bottles of 2016 Paitin Serraboella Barbaresco

The history or Sori Paitin can be traced back to 1893 in the Piedmont region of Northwestern Italy. This wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Serraboella Vineyard in Neive. Robert Parker scored this vintage 96 points and gave the following review, “Bright, energetic and vivid, the Paitin 2016 Barbaresco Serraboella Sorì Paitin (with 15,000 bottles made) wins your heart at the very first sip. The wine shows an outstanding level of purity and Nebbiolo authenticity, with the delicate and fragile nuances that give magic to the grape. It shows a lean-weight approach, but there is plenty of power and lasting intensity that sticks to the senses for many long and pleasurable minutes. The tannins are smooth, silky and integrated.”
3 Bottles of 2016 Bussola Ca’ del Laito Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso

Tomasso Bussola has been recognized as one of the top producers by his peers in the region! This wine comes from Northern Italy’s Veneto Region, and more specifically the Ca’ del Laito Vineyard in Valpolicella which is located on a ridge just above Quintarelli. This wine is made all from very low yielding, old vines of 40% Corvina and Corvinone, 40% Rondinella, 10% Molinara, and 10% other varietals. It offers up a deep, complex, and vibrant bouquet of sweet blackberries, a bit of red currant, a gorgeous array of spice tones, a fine foundation of soil, a touch of new leather, and a distinct note of raisin. On the palate, the wine is pure, full-bodied and very expressive, with superb focus and grip, a beautiful core of fruit, fine mineral drive and bounce and a long, tangy moderately tannic finish.
