Below are the details of what will be contained in “Chef Jim’s Selections for Thanksgiving and More”! All of these wines were selected by Jim Sikes, Food and Wine columnist for the OA News, former owner of Jimmy’s in downtown Opelika, host of “In the Kitchen With Chef Jim,” and fellow food & wine enthusiast!

Each case (12 bottles; 3 of each selection) is $185 + tax. Payment is due at pick up. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

**If you want to just order 1 bottle of each selection (4 total) cost would be $75 + tax. Please indicate in your request if want to go with this option. **

Orders for this box are due by NOON, November 23rd, with pickup the following day, November 24th at Cigar and Fine Spirits in Moore’s Mill.

3 Bottles of Poema Cava Brut NV

This Non Vintage Sparkling wine from Spain is comprised of 40% Macabeo, 40% Xarel-lo, and 20% Parellada. using the same traditional method used in Champagne. The grapes are grown in the limestone hills surrounding Barcelona on vines that are a minimum of 20 years old. A green harvest and careful selection help to ensure that only ripe, pristine grapes are picked. It is fresh and clean on the palate with notes of citrus and mineral. On the nose it has  Granny Smith apple aromas with hints of toasted bread. 

3 Bottles of 2019 Pierre Amadieu Cotes du Rhone Blanc 

The Amadieu family have been making wines in the Rhone Valley of France since 1929. They are now on the third generation operating their family business. This white blend is comprised of 50% Grenache Blanc and 50% Clairette. On the nose it is pleasant and floral with hints of stone fruit. On the palate it is fresh, fruity, floral, and lively. It is round and shows great length on the palate. A great pairing for all things on any Thanksgiving table.

3 Bottles of 2019 Studio Rose by Miraval

This winery is tucked away in its own private valley in the ancient village of Correns – the first organic village in France – Miraval covers 1,235 acres of land in the heart of Provence. Throughout its history, Miraval has served as the home of the Orsini Prince of Naples, a recording studio where tracks of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” were recorded, and today a partnership between legendary families, Perrin and Jolie-Pitt. Studio is a blend of 40% each Cinsault and Grenache, plus 20% Tibouren. It is a medium-bodied, silky-textured rose with notes of lime, tangerine, peach and pineapple that all come together in this fruit-forward but dry offering.

3 Bottles of 2019 Dupeuble Beaujolais

This historic Beaujolais from famed wine importer Kermit Lynch is the perfect red wine for all Thanksgiving fare. Kermit first met the Dupeuble family in the late 1980’s. This family, however, has been making wine, almost continuously, since 1512. This wine composed of 100% Gamay is deep purple in color with riveting aromatics. A farmer’s market feast awaits as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries, violets and cinnamon greet the nose. On the palate, this wine is medium-bodied yet layered with a rich, smooth texture. The fruits listed above cascade across the palate with a freshness that will have you pouring another glass.
