3 Bottles of 2018 Mount Eden Old Vine Chardonnay
Mount Eden was started in 1945 by Paul Maason and Martin Ray. Since 1981 Jeffrey Patterson has led the winemaking and grape growing for Mount Eden. The 55 acre vineyard for this wine was planted in 1976 in Edna Valley in the Central Coast of California and is the oldest in the area. This wine was #41 on the WE Top 100 of 2020, and Robert Parker gave it a 94 point score. It is pure, energetic, and fresh. The palate is silky with notes of tropical fruit, lemon peel, tangerine, dried flowers, and a lush finish.
3 Bottles of 2018 Spoken West Pinot Noir
This California Pinot Noir from Jamey Whetstone has a gorgeous ruby color. It has a dense, expressive nose of baked black cherry pie, coffee, earthy forest floor, and Asian spices. On the palate medium-to full bodied flavors of ripe dark cherry, strawberry pie and baker’s chocolate are present from front to back. It finishes long with hints of plum and just the right amount of acidity.
3 Bottles of 2017 Iconic ‘Sidekick’ Merlot
Iconic works with several fruit sources from Northern California for their Merlot. Fruit is selected from vineyards as far north as Anderson Valley and as far south as Lodi. The wine is comprised of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. After fermentation, the wines are stored in new French Oak barrels for a minimum of 6 months. This wine is smooth, well balanced and well stocked with ripe black fruits. This medium- to full-bodied wine has a touch of tannin for good structure. It’s very attractive and will be versatile with food.
3 Bottles of 2018 Jax Y3 Cabernet Sauvignon
This Cab from the North Coast of California is made by cult winemaker Kirk Venge for brother and sister owners, Trent and Kinberly Jackson. All of the fruit for this wine was hand harvested. After the pristine whole cluster fruit fermented from 15-30 day in concrete tank fermenters soakining on the skins, the finished wine was then aged for 22 months in French Oak barrels. It has dark aromas of ripe blackberries, currants and a hint of spice. This Cabernet Sauvignon coats the palate with dense layers of black cherry, cocoa nib, forest floor and soft hints of cedar. It is full bodied with broad structure. This wine carries through with vibrant acidity and delicate tannins.
